Ellen Bryant Voigt has written seven books of poetry include Claiming Kin, The Forces of Plenty, The Lotus Flowers, Two Trees, Kyrie, Shadow of Heaven and Messenger: New and Selected Poems 1976-2006, which was a finalist for both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award. She has also written The Flexible Lyric, a collection of essays, and The Art of Syntax: Rhythm of Thought, Rhythm of Song. She teaches at Warren Wilson College and is a chancellor of the Academy of American Poets.
