Kate Daniels -- 2011 Hanes Award for Poetry recipient -- is associate professor of English and Chair of the Vanderbilt Visiting Writers Series at Vanderbilt University. Her first book of poetry, The White Wave, won the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize.  The Niobe Poems, her second volume, received honorable mention for the Paterson Poetry Prize. Her third and fourth volumes, Four Testimonies and A Walk in Victoria’s Secret, were selected by Dave Smith for the Southern Messenger Series, published by LSU Press.  Her poems have appeared in numerous journals and magazines and have been the recipient of awards, including Best American Poetry 2010, Best American Poetry 2008, the Crazyhorse Prize for Poetry,  a Pushcart Prize, the Louisiana Literature Poetry Prize and the James Dickey Prize from Five Points: A Journal of Literature and Art.  She lives in Nashville, Tennessee.
