Kevin McCarthy is the writer and director of a screen adaptation of Landscapes of the Heart, a bio-documentary on the celebrated life of Elizabeth Spencer. He is a Hollywood veteran having worked in development and production for a number of major studios and independent production companies. His most notable work includes the feature films What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Cider House Rules, Chocolat, Leaving Las Vegas and October Sky. He is the author of a number of screenplays and is currently working on adapting two novels. McCarthy is also a theater director and has had plays produced in Los Angeles, Boston and in Europe, where he was Artistic Director of a French theater company for five years.  He lives in Vermont and teaches at Dartmouth University.
