Kevin McFadden – 2009 George Garrett New Writing Award recipient – is the author of Hardscrabble, an inaugural selection of The Virginia Quarterly Review Poetry series. His work has been published in a wide array of journals, including Denver Quarterly, Fence, The Kenyon Review, Ploughshares, Poetry, Prairie Schooner and The Southern Review. He was a Henry Hoyns Fellow at the University of Virginia and now lives in Charlottesville where he is the associate program director for the Virginia Festival of the Book.
