Sam Pickering is a Tennessee native who teaches English at the University of Connecticut. His books include academic studies, travel books and collections of personal essays. His most recent books are A Comfortable Boy, a memoir describing his life through the eighth grade, and Journeys, a volume of personal essays. In press is A Tramp's Wallet, the final book in a trilogy describing years he spent in Australia.
