Sam Pickering is a Tennessee native who teaches English at the University of Connecticut. His books include academic studies, travel books and collections of personal essays. His most recent books are Waltzing the Magpies, an account of the year he and his family spent in western Australia, The Best of Sam Pickering, Letters to a Teacher and Indian Summer.
